Why I built this

Afterpay Day is one of Australia's biggest mid-year shopping events. It's also one of the most effective examples of urgency engineering in retail. Countdown timers, 'was/now' banners, 'today only' labels. Almost all of it is designed to make you decide faster, with less information.

The ACCC enforcement record is instructive. Of the 74 products that mattress retailer Emma Sleep advertised with strikethrough prices during a sale event, 58 had never been sold at the higher price. That's not a rounding error. That's the model.

This guide is about reversing the dynamic. Decide what you want before the sale starts. Set up a fetch so the system monitors it. Buy when the price is genuinely right, not when a timer tells you to. The savings are real when you do it this way. The evenings stay yours.
